There are several causes of male infertility such as hormonal imbalances, physical problems, psychological problems, and behavioral problems. However, there are some major and common causes that have been the reason of infertility among men.

Below are the main causes of infertility in men:

Hormone imbalances

Hormone imbalance is a condition in which testosterone levels in the body are low, which negatively impacts the sperm count. Infertility can also be caused by if there are problems in the proper functioning of the other hormonal systems such as the hypothalamus, pituitary endocrine system, thyroid, and adrenal glands.

Abnormal blood pressure

Abnormal or unhealthy blood pressure leads to disruption in the blood flow and hinders the supply of nutrients to the whole body. When the smooth blood flow is disturbed it keeps the healthy nutrients from reaching the sperm, which in turn results in the formation of immotile and unhealthy sperms and causes the issue of male infertility.

Obesity

Obesity in men is the other major cause of male-factor infertility. Excess body weight can adversely affect the quality and quantity of sperm produced and is also the cause of abnormally shaped sperm in males.

Varicocele

This problem generally occurs when the veins on the testicles are larger than usual and become swollen. The problem of varicocele can be cured with the help of surgery. It is a common cause of low sperm count and bad-quality of sperm.

Damaged sperm ducts

If the man has damaged sperm ducts, his sperms face difficulty emerging out of the penis. This passage may be blocked due to several reasons such as genetic issues that result in the absence of one or more tubes from which sperm passes from the testicles to the penis.

Infection

There are certain infections that can intervene in the process of sperm production or have the potential of blocking the path of the sperm. These include various sexually transmitted infections, inflammation of the epididymis, gonorrhea, HIV, etc.
