Acne

Acne commonly forms on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, and upper back. They are breakouts on the skin composed of pimples, blackheads, whiteheads, or deep, painful cysts and nodules and leave scars or darken the skin if not treated.

Sores

Cold Sores

They are red, painful, fluid-filled blisters that form near the mouth and lips. The affected area tingles or burns before the sore is visible. Sore outbreaks sometimes may also be accompanied by mild, flu-like symptoms such as body aches, low fever, and swollen lymph nodes.

Blisters

Blisters are characterized by clear, watery, fluid-filled area on the skin. They may be smaller than 1 cm, which are called vesicles or larger than 1 cm, called bulla and occur singly or in groups. Blisters can form anywhere on the body.

Melasma

It is a common skin condition that causes dark patches to form on the face and, occasionally, the neck, chest, or arms. It is very common in pregnant women and is called chloasma. It does not have any other symptoms apart from skin discoloration, and either goes away on its own within a year or becomes permanent.

Warts

They are caused by different types of a virus called human papillomavirus (HPV). These may be found on the skin or mucous membranes and occur either singly or in groups. Warts are contagious and may be passed to others.

Eczema

  • Avoid excessive physical or emotional stress.
  • Avoid sharing eating utensils and drinking glasses with others.
  • Don’t share personal items, such as hair brushes or blankets.
  • Avoid direct skin contact with the skin of other people who have an infection.
  • Clean things in public areas, such as gym equipment, toilet seats,  before using them.
  • Get vaccinated for infectious skin conditions, like chickenpox.
  • Sleep for a minimum of seven hours each night.
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water regularly.
Prevent Skin Disorders

Noninfectious skin disorders, such as atopic dermatitis and acne, can sometimes be prevented. Prevention methods vary depending on the condition.

Here are some tips for preventing noninfectious skin disorders:

  • Use moisturizer.
  • Wash your face with a gentle or mild cleanser and water every day.
  • Sleep for at least seven hours each night.
  • Avoid environmental and dietary allergens.
  • Avoid coming in contact with harsh chemicals or other irritants.
  • Eat a healthy diet.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Protect your skin from excessive heat, cold,  and wind.
